About

This server is a place created in 2019 for Avatar fans of all kinds to share the love for all things James Cameron, and quickly became the home of the countdown (which was initially on an image board). Since then, it has served as a hangout spot for everything Avatar and more broadly, everything James Cameron does. Everything from tracking the box office progress to showing off artworks made by fans every day. Since the server initially formed from people on an online image board, the atmosphere has always been laid back, and casual.

Today, the server is among the top when it comes to talking about Avatar, and everything James Cameron. Art, speculation, tracking numbers, showing off merch, and of course the (by now) famous countdown. Did you know that over 200 other discord servers subscribe to it to get notified every day?

Practical info

If someone is causing trouble in the server, and you need assitance, ping the @Jims Role to get them to help. If there are problems in the server with other people that you don't want to discuss publically, or suggestions that you want to make, open a mod mail to the whole mod team, so we know when something is wrong.

Question Answer
Who are the moderators? Everyone with the @Jims role.
How do I become a mod? We're not looking for moderators, unless there is an announcement for applications.
I want to support the server. How? The best way to support the server is to get a membership. All money gets re-invested into giveaways, and other community related things. We don't keep any profits.
Is this the "official" Avatar Discord Server? No, there is no official Avatar Discord. There are many communities out there, us being one of them. We're not in any official relationship to Lightstorm Entertainment.
How do I get the Based or Robust Poster Role? Be nice to others, contribute to the server, help us out, and be based. There really isn't a straight formula for this.
How do I get access to #Art-Showcase? Based Artists have access to the art showcase channel. If you want to post your art there as well, show us a few of your artworks in the art channel , and ask a moderator if you can have the role.
Why did my role get taken away? We keep an eye on people's behaviour, and if we deem it fit, remove roles, or give roles without previous warning. You'll get a DM explaining why it was taken away.
Are there any rules? Where are they? Why are they so vague? Do you not have any rules? We have a handful of rules on the server which should be self-explanatory. If you don't know what they mean, don't be afraid to ask. See how others behave if you're still unsure. You think that something probably isn't okay to post? Don't post it, please use common sense.
Where can I talk about spoilers? There are two chats for spoilers. The channel for Avatar 3 is for mild spoilers, and the True Detective lounge has a lot of spoilers as well. However, since we know that these spoilers might go so deep that it could ruin the movie for anyone stumbling into the channel, we're keeping it private for now.
I got the "Prolemuris" Role. What is that? This role prevents people from sending images or embeds in certain chats. We reserve this for people who (after having been asked not to) continue spamming pictures, videos or embedded media in chats.
I can't send images or GIFs. Why? If you just joined, and don't have a role, sending images and gifs is disabled for a few places, like general chat. Why? Because otherwise, bots, and trolls come into our server to spam images. Just give it a little time, and you'll get there.
Can I DM people from the server? Sure. But if this person tells us that you asked for their info, money, or that they don't know you, and that you DM'd them without asking in the server first, there's a good chance you can get banned. We get spammers and scammers that DM people from the server way too often.
